Miguelito's Corner (La Esquina de "El Guiro")

Weekend of 9/24/09.........

Hola mi gente...Miguelito's corner is back!  We've had some great music and interviews on the show this past spring and summer. The Latin Jazz Show continues to grow by leaps and bounds.  Great music, mostly by Mr."Sweet Lou" Hidalgo and Mr. Willie "Don Pepin de la Salsa" Rodriguez.  Great Interviews.....Mr. Frankie Morales, Mr. Herman Olivera, Yoko" La Japonesa Salsera, and Melena, thanks to Mr. Jimmy "Sabor" Castro. Lots of updates "electronically", thanks to Mr. Orangel Bustamante.  Lou and I have had a busy summer with several events......The 3rd Annual Film Festival, the Que Pasa Festival, the Imagine Festival, our own 3rd Annual Latin Jazz & Salsa Festival, and the concert "El Concierto de los Cantantes".....and the year hasn't ended......WOW!   We continue to pursue avenues to collectively bring you the very best of Latin Jazz and Salsa music.  We are collaborating with other Latin Jazz & Salsa radio stations to learn more, and to share our success as well.  We continue to reach out for sponsors to defray the operational cost of the Latin Jazz Show.  For sponsorship details call 804-323-0202 or 804-914-1944. We thank all of our fans and listeners for your continued support.  "QUE VIVA LA SALSA", EL GUIRO....

"Part II"

Weekend of 4/10/09 & 4/11/09.........

Sweet Lou and I had the studio to ourselves at WCLM, just like old times, and the music was exciting as ever.  Lou got on the computer and was able to share some great classics with the listeners....The theme from West Side Story, Mambo Kings, etc.  He mixed it up to the TEE!  What a treat.  On Saturday, WHAP was very exciting as well.  Our producer, Jimmy Castro, set up a great interview with the infamous Izzy Sanabria, a legend in our Latin Jazz and Salsa community here in the U.S, as well as worldwide!

We learned that Izzy coined the phrase "SALSA" and that he MC'ed a host of Latin musical events, particularly with the Fania All-Stars.  Izzy's fame came in many roles, as promoter, MC, actor, comedian, publisher, editor, and artist.  He founded the Latin N.Y. magazine, and his artistic talents were demonstrated on several album covers and posters as well.  With great interviews and equally great cartoons to illustrate the times, we cherish and remember the times of Latin N.Y. magazine.  Check out Mr Sanabria's continued work at SalsaMagazine.com.

We thank Mr Izzy Sanabria for taking the time for The Latin Jazz Show, and of course, Jimmy Castro for bringing us this great interview!
